Research

My research focuses on modeling the life cycles and disease transmission dynamics of various tick species, emphasizing understanding the ecological and environmental drivers of vector-borne pathogens. I use mathematical and computational tools to inform public health strategies and improve predictive risk assessments.

Teaching

I developed a strong foundation in STEM education as an undergraduate through ODU MonarchTeach, where I gained hands-on experience designing and delivering inquiry- and project-based math lessons for secondary students. As a graduate student, I plan to carry these student-centered and inclusive teaching practices into the classroom when I begin serving as a Teaching Assistant.

Leadership

I've held leadership roles at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including Second Vice President of the Rho Nu Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and President of the Biology Graduate Student Organization. In these roles, I’ve led award-winning programs, fostered community, and supported academic and professional growth among students. I look forward to continuing this leadership journey throughout my academic and professional career.

Outreach

My outreach experience reflects a strong commitment to community engagement both within and beyond the university. I’ve represented my lab, the ODU Tick Team, at public events to promote tick-borne disease awareness, collaborated with campus organizations on service initiatives, and mentored youth through STEM-focused programs. I truly enjoy connecting with others through these initiatives and look forward to continuing this meaningful work.
